Banks and Development Agencies
Consultation and coordination with bilateral institutions or agencies constitute essential levers for both effectiveness and the relevance of AFD in its intervention countries. These partnerships may be either operational via project cofinancing or intellectual via joint exchange programs.

Regional and international institutions
Development aid is a universal issue. Efforts may be constantly increasing at the national level, but funds allocated to international and regional institutions are also clearly important. Working in partnership with international organizations allows AFD to share its ideas and enables large-scale projects to come into being.

Bilateral agencies
Development aid has become a global concern in recent years. Developed countries have no choice but to take part in this aid that has both international and national components. Many countries have consequently now set up establishments similar to AFD, which are in charge of official development assistance and financing aid projects. AFD’s missions obviously lead it to work together with numerous countries and, for issues relating to aid, with its main counterparts.
